Adult Individual Psychotherapy
Through Adult Individual Psychotherapy, I help women experiencing a wide variety of personal issues and life stressors, including:
- Domestic violence
- Childhood trauma
- Separation and divorce
- Empty nest syndrome
- Parenting
- Medical illness
- Interpersonal relationships
- Intimacy problems
Along with traditional psychotherapy techniques, I believe strongly in the value of Energy Psychology Techniques. Energy Psychology Techniques combine problem-specific verbalizations with focused attention on acupressure points or major energy centers of the body to release stress and pent-up emotions. These techniques have been found to eliminate or minimize overwhelming emotions and thoughts. With the patient’s permission, they can be incorporated into traditional therapy sessions.
Women’s Issues Group Therapy
Typically focusing on interpersonal relationships, group therapy brings together five to ten individuals who become “therapeutic helpers” and learning partners for one another. In a supportive, private and confidential setting, group therapy provides opportunities to:
- Work through specific problems and life challenges
- Understand one’s own patterns of thoughts and behaviors
- Perceive and experience group members’ reactions to one another
- Participate in meaningful discussions
- Minimize feelings of isolation
- Learn with and from other people
- Change and grow
The therapeutic benefits of group therapy increase with greater involvement in the group. Therefore, group therapy patients are expected to make the commitment to consistently attend group meetings. Each member of a therapy group is also expected to express problems, feelings, ideas and reactions as freely and honestly as possible, and to maintain the confidentiality of the group. Groups meet weekly for 75 to 90 minutes.
